More Legal Woes, This Time For Kelly Bensimon
For Kelly Bensimon, she's becoming accustomed to legal matters. After being arrested for allegedly assaulting her boyfriend, she finds herself being named in a new legal matter.
This time, the suit is regarding the jewelry line she unveiled in last week's episode of the Real Housewives of New York. You know, the jewelry she said the likes of Rev Run's wife Justine Simmons. Celeste Greenberg, a former employee of Elle Accessory claims Kelly stole the an idea for her jewelry line from Greenberg, when Kelly was editor at Elle Accessory.
Greenberg went on to create her own line of accessories at Tuleste Market. The piece in issue is an owl pendant. Sources say Greenberg gave Kelly a pendant to wear for photo shoots and media appearances. Afterward, Greenberg and Kelly reportedly decided orally to create a replica piece and split the profits.
Greenberg calls foul saying Kelly took her idea, and the money she should have been entitled to split with Kelly. Kelly's pendant retails for around $325, so if Kelly loses in the suit, there could be substantial damages.
Of course, this will be a he said she said issue. "Kelly has been hawking the owl on her Bravo show, on the talk-show circuit, and in a bunch of magazines," says a source.
On the other hand, Kelly's camp is saying, "This girl used to work at Elle Accessories with Kelly. Kelly went out of her way to book her for freelance gigs. They went their separate ways. Now she's coming after her because she needs money and Kelly's name is in the press. There's no validity to this. They never had an agreement about anything."
